MOC Cambodia receives additional export-promotion materials for ongoing Dubai Expo
Due to ongoing high demand at the Dubai Expo for the Product & Supplier Brochures published by GIZ and EuroCham, an additional batch of 1200 copies were handed over to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on November 12th, 2021.

Thomas Hundt appointed as Axiata Group’s Chief Strategy and Technology Officer
Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata, has been nominated to become Axiata Group’s new Chief Strategy and Technology Officer. In the interim, he will be replaced by Feiruz Ikhwan, current Chief Financial Officer of Smart Axiata. In his new role based in Malaysia, Hundt will be vital in driving Axiata Group’s future innovation and technological advancements across South-East Asia.

Cambodia reduces quarantine for vaccinated travelers
The Cambodian government has announced a revision of its travel conditions, health measures and quarantine requirements for those entering the country. Starting from 18 October 2021, vaccinated travelers now face shorter quarantine periods when entering Cambodia, provided they meet certain safety requirements listed under the new measure.

Cambodian participation to Expo 2020 Dubai is a success!
Cambodian participation in the trade fair Expo 2020 in Dubai is a success, according to an official from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce. Postponed due to the COVID pandemic, the trade fair opened its doors earlier this month and will continue until the end of March 2022.

EU Ambassador pledges support to EuroCham
The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Cambodia, H.E. Ms. Carmen Moreno, has pledged to renew the EU’s support to EuroCham Cambodia and to increase its engagement with the private sector in the country. Her remarks were made during the opening of EuroCham’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Thursday 14 October, 2021.

1st Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum in Phnom Penh
The 1st Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum (1st AEEBF) will take place in Phnom Penh on 24 November 2021. Arranged in a digital format, it is one of the major side events of the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 13), an inter-governmental, multilateral summit scheduled for 25 and 26 November 2021. The Forum aims to further promote and facilitate foreign investment and cultural relations between European and Asian countries.

2021 German Federal Election: What does it mean for Cambodia?
While the September elections in Germany have not yet yielded a confirmed successor to Angela Merkel, the overall direction of Germany’s involvement in the Asia Pacific region has been outlined by her government in late 2020 already.
