The German Business Group in Cambodia (ADW) invites all early birds to the Hotel Sofitel Phokeethra in Phnom Penh to discuss the next level of industrialization. Generally known as “Industry 4.0”, it mainly consists of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. Moreover, it comprises cyber-physical systems, the internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. It is a concept that is already widely applied in the global operations of many German industrial groups, and likely to impact the future of manufacturing in Cambodia.
The event starts at 8:00 am with opening remarks by the German Ambassador, Dr. Ingo Karsten. Afterwards, four distinguished speakers shed light on the Industry 4.0 concept and its potentials for Cambodia:
Mr. Nikolai Kurnosov is the general manager of Rexroth – Bosch Group in Vietnam and Cambodia since March 2014. With his team at Rexroth – Bosch, he avidly facilitates Industry 4.0 development in Vietnam and introduced the first Industry 4.0 application for education there already in 2015, and oversaw the first Industry 4.0 factory modernization in the country in 2017.
Mr. Markus Lorenzini, President & CEO Siemens Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia, has held various senior management positions for Siemens in different countries such as Germany, U.A.E. and Indonesia since 1997. His expertise and extensive experience in identifying and understanding the process of building up businesses enable him to drive Siemens and its businesses towards digitalization. On the regional stage, he was one of the distinguished panelists to speak at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2017, held in Cambodia, on the “Digital Start-up ASEAN” panel. Mr. Lorenzini is also the President of the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Daniel Gottschald is the Managing Director of Chemie Cluster Bayern & inSite Bavaria, Germany, since 2009. He has coordinated various industry projects on international level. He is also the president of the Cluster Excellence expert group of the European Commission and the chairman of the project council of the European Chemical Regions Network (ECRN).
Mr. Charles Esterhoy is the Chief Operating Officer at the Kerry Worldbridge Logistics Special Economic Zone in Takhmao. As part of his role in attracting foreign investment to Cambodia, Mr. Esterhoy has become deeply involved in shaping Cambodia’s industrial transition from a garment based manufacturing base into one where new forms of diversified manufacturing and an Industry 4.0 environment will play a prominent role in the country’s development. Mr. Esterhoy is also the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, the Chairman of the EuroCham Transport & Logistics Committee and a contributing member of the Logistics Advisory Board to the Senior Minister of the Ministry of Public Works & Transport.
