Cambodian Business Delegation Concludes One-Week Visit to Germany

Successful Business Delegation Trip to Germany, Highlighted by a Visit to Trade Fair Biofach in Nuremberg

At the beginning of August, 11 companies from Cambodia’s agricultural and food processing sector successfully concluded a business trip to the world’s leading organic trade fair Biofach in Nuremberg, Germany.

From July 23rd to 31st 2022, they completed a diverse program supplemented with more than 50 arranged B2B talks with European buyers. The program began with preparatory lectures on the day before the fair and included two days of trade fair participation. The participants also travelled to additional cities – including Cologne – for meetings with additional buyers as well as the organizers of the famous German food fair ANUGA.

Each participant brought several kilos of product samples that were showcased at the fair and helped to promote Cambodia’s unique products, including Kampot pepper, dried fruit, cashews, palm sugar, and more.

“We particularly appreciate the business matching meetings. They were well targeted and suited for our business needs and the partnerships we are seeking. It really felt that the consultant chosen by GIZ really made a thorough business needs assessment and offered high-value companies for the meetings. It would be very hard to have this type of possibility otherwise.”

The participating companies were able to spark the interest of several European buyers and are now following up on the talks to formalize further cooperation, possibly leading to the conclusion of contracts as suppliers to the European market.

“The trade fair was suitable for our business needs, because the buyers did not hesitate to order our product straight away, if price demands are met and other supporting documents are supplied.”
