Austrian business mission to Cambodia a resounding success

on .

More than twenty export-oriented, renowned Austrian companies explored “new” business potentials in the dynamic Cambodian growth market from 17th – 18th March. The business mission was organized and headed by “Advantage Austria”, the official trade promotion organization of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

As part of an extensive program, Eurocham Cambodia facilitated B2B-meetings between the Austrian delegation and members of the local business community. Areas of interest included banking and finance, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, and the public sector.

On the first evening, the delegation met with ADW representatives Max Gridling from Cosmos Services and Alexander Spitzy – Managing Director for Jebsen & Jessen in Cambodia and Laos, who shared their experience in doing business in the Kingdom of Cambodia with key insights on opportunities as well as challenges and potential obstacles facing newcomers to this exciting market.

ADW Cambodia - Austrian Business Mission to Cambodia a Resounding Success

Commercial Attaché Stephan Spazier remarked that, “this fact-finding trip to Cambodia was the first official visit in over 10 years, and it came as no surprise that it was met with such sound interest and feedback. Although Cambodia is not yet amongst the top ASEAN performers in terms of general development or economic indicators, it achieved remarkable growth and progress in recent years and offers interesting business and investment opportunities; we are convinced that the country will economically benefit from further ASEAN integration.”

The delegation comprised a cross-section of the Austrian export-economy and some of its most successful international companies, such as Rosenbauer, VAMED, AME International, Bank Austria, Raiffeisen Bank International, ATC - Austrian Technology Cluster, Casinos Austria, Oesterreichische Kontrollbank, Austrian State Printing House, MUT environment technology, bit media, Wagner-Biro and others.

The intensive 2-day event included 8 ministry appointments, B2B meetings, networking receptions, dinners, briefings, and other events. Stephan Spazier concluded that, the participants were extremely impressed by the rapid and clearly noticeable economic development and overall dynamism, as well as the promising business potential and the very professional, hospitable and warm reception our delegation enjoyed throughout its visit.”

As a direct result of the business mission, concrete projects, business opportunities, follow-up appointments and further areas of cooperation are to be expected.
